Member Distribution Payment Process

Following approval at the Special General Meeting (“SGM”) last October, the Society registered new Rules which took effect on 1 January 2022. These provide for future benefits to be paid on a discretionary basis rather than under a contract of insurance.

We undertook to distribute part of our reserves to members as at 31 December 2021, provided they had joined the Society no later than 31 January 2021. The payment process will be straightforward for those members who pay the correct subscription and where we have up-to-date bank details, these include those who have paid recently by direct debit or standing order. 

The payment will be based on the age of the oldest beneficiary as at 31 December 2021 and the membership type.  The table below shows the respective entitlements.

We will be carrying out the payment process in two parts; those with e-mail addresses, who are the majority of members, will be approached and paid first followed by those without e-mail addresses. 

Members will receive an e-mail (or letter for those without e-mail addresses) detailing their oldest beneficiary’s date of birth, membership type and payment amount.  As several members have indicated that they wish to forego the payment and would prefer the Society to retain this amount for the future benefit of members we will provide members with an opportunity to instruct us to do this. 

If we do not received instructions to forego the payment by 14th March 2022 the calculated payment will be made to the bank account which pays the membership by 30th April 2022.   The date will be later for those where we do not have e-mail contact details or where our records are incomplete.

Q.  Another organization pays my membership fees on my behalf, will I received the payment? 

A.  As we do not hold your bank details we will not be able to pay you directly. However, we will get in contact to establish how to make the payment.

Q.  What happens if LGF does not have my current contact details?

A.  If we do not hold up-to-date contact details for you, you will not receive notification of the payment amount but will be paid providing the recorded bank account is still active.  We would encourage you to get in contact with us as  to inform us of your new contact details so that you receive all future communications from us.

Q.  I do not pay the correct membership subscription, will I still receive the payment?

A.  Those members who paid a proportion of the correct membership subscription in 2021 will be entitled to the same proportion of the payment due to them. 

Q. What will happen if my bank details are incorrect?

A.  If the bank account we have recorded for you has since closed then the payment will not work and we will be notified of this.  We will then get in contact with you providing that we have up-to-date contact details for you. 

Q.  I think the payment amount is incorrect, what should I do?

A.  The payment amount is based on the information that we have in our database.  Please get in touch with us if this information is incorrect. 

Q.  I’ve not received an e-mail from you what should I do?

A.  In the first instance check your e-mail junk folder as sometimes your IT security can forward emails there. Alternatively you could contact the team at

Q.  I cancelled my membership in 2021 because my husband/wife passed away: will I still benefit?

A.  Providing you paid for membership in 2021 you are entitled to the payment. 

Q. If I accept the distribution payment will my membership with Lady Grover’s Fund continue?

A. Yes, you will continue to be a member of Lady Grover’s Fund providing you pay your annual membership fees.
